"The following tables represent preliminary summaries of effort, retained catch (kept) and discards (released) as reported on longline log sheets for the Hawaii limited-access longline fishery. To satisfy confidentiality and RFMO reporting standards, data from the Californiabased longline fishery is also included in this report. Effort and catch statistics are summarized from logbook data submitted to the PIFSC FRMD and are based on date of longline haul. The statistics originate from an Oracle table HICA20170915 RFMO 5x5 NON CONF database extraction done on 18 September 2017. When a statistic (number of vessels, trips) can involve dates of haul in two summary periods (i.e. years, semi-annual or quarters) the item is counted in both summary periods. Thus, a vessel or trip total is for "partial or completed" vessel or trip summary.
