This study presents an analysis of winter precipitation events along the Wasatch Front region of northern Utah. Accurate mountain precipitation forecasts are necessary for estimating avalanche hazard in the heavily used Wasatch Mountain backcountry, and to facilitate avalanche control measures taken by the developed ski areas and the Utah State Highway Department"--Introduction.
