Description:The National Weather Service uses four methods to communicate warning information, either real time or education, regarding potential flash floods to the general pubIic. These are flash-flood watches and warnings, a flash-flood alarm system, self-help procedures, and informational materials. Public lack of understanding of some of the information and the flash-flood phenomena itself lessens adequate response time of subsequent action by the pubIic when a flash flood does occur.
