Description:"The Mississippi Sound is one of the most valuable fisheries nursery grounds in the world. At the same time it offers many incentives for industrial and residential development. Both interests must be accommodated, but proper management is highly dependent on a proper understanding of pollutant levels and transport. In this study, types, levels and locations of pollutants are identified along with their physical and chemical pathways; the overall significance of pollution is assessed, and the role of this information in establishing management criteria is discussed. Thirty tables and illustrations, many in color, index the findings"-- National Sea Grant Library publication website.
