Description:"The charter fishing industry has a long history in Washington and Oregon, as residents and tourists have a myriad of fishing opportunities, from salmon fishing in the Puget Sound and the Columbia River area to rockfish and tuna fishing opportunities throughout marine areas in both states. The Washington and Oregon Charter Vessel Survey was administered in 2014 by the Northwest Fisheries Science Center (NWFSC). The survey collected data that can be used to construct key economic performance measures related to the profitability, productivity, and regional economic impacts of the fishery. This Technical Memorandum describes the methodology used to administer the survey, in addition to some of the basic findings, including costs by type, revenue earned, business practices, economic prospects in the future, and challenges facing the industry"--Executive Summary.
