Description:"The initialization of the analyzed wind field for use in the LFM model involves the removal of the divergence through the use of subroutine HANS. In anticipation of a potential use of this subroutine in the postprocessing section of the LFM, I undertook some tests of the subroutine using analytic input. For the most part these tests showed the subroutine to perform as expected; however, in two cases peculiar results were obtained"--Introduction.
