Description:In tracing the history of the Extended Forecast Division, we need go back no further than the "dust bowl" years of the 1930's. As a direct result of this near disaster to American agriculture, Congress passed the Bankhead-Jones Act of 1935, which allocated special funds to the Department of Agriculture "to conduct research into laws and principles underlying basic problems of agriculture in its broadest aspects.
