Description:A system of FORTRAN language computer programs is presented which have the ability to locate the sun at arbitrary times. On demand, the programs will return the distance and direction to the sun, either as seen by an observer at an arbitrary location on the Earth, or in a standard astronomic coordinate system. For one century before or after the year 1960, the program is expected to have an accuracy of 30 seconds of arc (2 seconds of time) in angular position, and ±7 x 10 ⁻⁵ A. U. in distance. A non-standard algorithm is used which minimizes the number of trigonometric evaluations involved in the computations.
