Description:This strategic plan serves as the foundation for a long-term, coherent approach to policy development and management action to accomplish the goals set for NOAA by the Department of Commerce, the Executive Branch, and the Congress. Within the Department of Commerce NOAA is assigned the priority goal to: Support balanced management of the oceanic and atmospheric environment. NOAA also contributes directly to other Departmental goals to promote international trade in the global economy, increase economic competitiveness, to establish a Total Quality Management environment in the Department of Commerce, and to provide data and information products and services to support governmental policy and meet public needs.
