Description:"Almost since the very beginning of the mean sea level pressure (MSLP) analysis scheme many years ago in the U.S. and elsewhere, man has attempted to forecast this field at some time in the future using an educated guess, dead-reckoning, kinematics, weather types, analogs, persistence, CAVT computations, etc. Some of the more skilled forecasters using such techniques were quite successful in routinely making fairly accurate MSLP progs out to 24 hours and occasionally out to 48 hours and beyond"--Introduction.
