Description:Near surface temperature and salinity were observed across Puget Sound, Washington, a fjord-like estuary, during 6 August-6 September 1979. Water from approximately 6 m depth was sampled every 4 seconds (30-40 m at full speed) aboard a Washington State Ferry as it crossed the Main Basin of Puget Sound and entered adjoining bays and inlets. A total of nearly 600,000 triplets of temperature, salinity, and position were recorded during the study.
