Description:

Geared to applied mathematicians, this technical report reveals the use of transmutation from constant to variable indices to emphasize finding and using "approximate" solutions corresponding to variable indices of refraction. The authors note that these approximate solutions are easier to find than the exact solutions because some of the difficulties arising in the use of transmutation can be ignored.
