Description:Per the Weather Research and Forecasting Innovation Act of 2017, NOAA’s National Weather Service is required to collect and utilize information to make reliable and timely foundational forecasts of subseasonal and seasonal temperature and precipitation. As weather technology progresses, it becomes easier to create seasonal and subseasonal forecasts. What are the potential uses for these forecasts? In what fields would they be of especially high value? This bibliography explores research primarily from the last twenty years on these longer term forecasts and their applications, especially their potential and existing economic impacts. It is organized into five sections: a general overview of seasonal and subseasonal forecasts, their applications for agriculture, their applications for aquaculture and fisheries, their applications for water resource management, and their applications for health and safety.
