Description:"The Office of Ocean Exploration sponsored high-resolution multibeam surveying to support management needs for detailed information on the depth and character of the seafloor around the island of Ni'ihau and the top of Penguin Bank in the Main Hawaiian Islands. Coastal marine areas ranging in depths between 20 m and 100 m were specifically targeted during the survey. A secondary purpose of the cruise was to provide training on multibeam surveying and data processing techniques to personnel associated with the Pacific Islands Fisheries Science Center and with the National Marine Sanctuary Program"--Type of operation.
